Non Invasive Angiograpny Not Ready for Prime Time
September 16th, 2005 | Published in Uncategorized

A study (full text $15) in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology reports
lingering challenges in the use of multislice computed tomography
(MSCT), also known as CTA (CT Angiography).
These data suggest that performance of MSCT is improving, but numerous challenges remain. These include problems with motion artifacts, irregular or rapid heart rates, difficulty visualizing segments with stents or graft anastomoses, and vascular calcification in older patients (which could be misinterpreted as obstructive plaque).
